Veteran’s Day WOD

"Roger that Sir, thank you"

19 men died as part of Operation Red Wing in the Mountains of Afghanistan. This WOD is a small gesture to thank all those who serve, and have served, our great country and specifically those who make the ultimate sacrifice.  We thank you and your families for these sacrifices and understand that our freedom is truly not free.

Wow—- really liked today’s wod even though it was tough. First time on pull up bar– yeah! Now I see why you all have calloused hands. Worked some Tuesday soreness out! Great wod to honor all of our wonderful veterans.

  15. Beast (aka JA)

Thank you to all the veterans.
“Roger that Sir, thank you.” was Lt.Michael Patrick Murphy’s last words as he walked out into open ground amidst heavy gunfire. He did this to get a signal to make his last phone call to HQ to get help for his men in Afghanistan.
Let us not take our freedom for granted.

My lower back was still tight from Tuesday, so I scaled quite a bit…200 meter sandbag carry after…by this time the soreness in my lower back had almost completely gone away –now my upper back and shoulders are sore LOL 🙂
Thanks again to all the veterans!!

  21. Noel (SKIP or SNIPER)

10 rds + 3 KB swings. I am almost sure this WOD would be a walk in the park for my USMC uncle. Almost.

  22. T-REX

17+1 (1 1/2 abmat, KPUs). First time doing 53# KB in a wod! Agree w/ Carl, def an out of body experience! Tim, I wish I read the Operation Red Wings article before the wod, maybe I would’ve finished. I salute all Veterans, esp both my Grandfathers who both fought in WWII, RIP. My heroes!

I felt really bad on my way home for my 2 little green men that didn’t make it to the “done” pile and wish that I would have turned around and went back to do extra work to get them in 🙁

  28. CrazyCarl

    38:16 R to the X.
Only thing that kept me going was the thought of all those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure our freedom here in America. Wasn’t going to quit. Awesome job to everyone that participated in this absolutely brutal and grueling wod. By far the hardest one I have ever done. This one took me to a special place.
And… probably won’t be able to walk tomorrow.

  29. Old Hickory (aka Andrew J)

It was awesome to see all classes packed all day. Special thanks to Khara for bringing the toy soldiers.
I am forever grateful for all those who have served and are currently serving. Dear to my heart are the US Veterans led by General Douglas MacArthrur who fought in my old country, Philippines. If not for them I wouldn’t be here enjoying the freedom.
Here’s a couple of his quotes:
“Duty, Honor, Country. Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be.”
“Age wrinkles the body. Quitting wrinkles the soul.”

  34. Rocky Top (aka Abbye Mac)

    17 + 2 ( 2abmat, 65#CP,green band, 35kb (27 on last few rounds 🙁
This WOD and I had a love/hate relationship….it was a mind game, it really makes you dig down deep and figure out just how much you have left! I left it all in the box tonight! Loved it!
Thanks Teach and Silverback for screaming at me the entire time, I needed it!!!!!!

  35. mikey

    41:02 (pike.75#,44#) … f’ the time cut-off, leave no man behind.
Great WOD on this day we honor those who have served and are serving to afford us the freedom to do what we do. THANK YOU!
Teach- I don’t care what others say about your music selection, I like your playlist. It’s stuff I listened to in high school- yeah… I’m old…

  36. G

Welcome on your first WOD Ishmael!
Good to see 007, April K, Young Blood, Contra, Monique and Patti back in action!

  37. Black'n'Blue/Triple B

    ALL. 19. ROUNDS. 39:49 (1 AbMat, 65#, Kipping Pull-Ups, 35#KB)
HOLY ENDORPHINS! Still can’t believe I got myself through the entire thing. Also can’t believe all the sacrifices other people have made so that I’m free to go to CrossFit, free to do the things that I want to do. 40 minutes of work is nothing in comparison to what veterans and those currently serving have and are going through. Thank you for all that you do!
Teach, your playlist was awesome! That and you yelling at me to sprint through that 19th round definitely helped. I set a personal goal for myself with this one to do each set of kipping pull-ups unbroken since there were only three each round. No crapping out with singles. Success! Little victories are the best. 🙂

  38. Teach

    35:58 R freakin’ X
even did all the stupid HSPUs 🙂 awesome energy in the box all night tonight! Proud to sweat next to so many current and retired military folks!

  39. Teach

It was packed all night tonight!
Fantastic job to everyone who came out for our hero WOD! Each and every person worked hard and I could see the determination and pride on everyone’s face…or it was agony, either way it was great!
Glad to see Arnold and Black n’ Blu make an appearance with the Vamps tonight!
Welcome to Ishmael who visited with us from Colombus,GA!
Happy Veterans Day to all and make sure that each day you let those who serve our country know that you are thankful for their sacrifice!

  40. 007

    34:59 (75,53)
Had to scale or next year you would be doing 20 rounds as I would have definitely been a casualty.
Thank you to all who have proudly served our country.

  41. Teach

Oh – since i didn’t finish the WOD fast enough, I ran 400m with the 50# sandbag for good measure!
Thanks to everyone who ran with me 🙂
