SSgt Travis Griffin
In honor of USAF SSgt Travis L. Griffin, 28, who was killed April 3, 2008 in the Rasheed district of Baghdad by an IED strike to his vehicle. Travis is survived by his son Elijah.

    16:47 – running?? backwards is FUN!!!


    Well last week everyone was telling their stories on why they love crossfit and how it helped them in many different ways. I read a lot of the stories and comments and at the time I could not think of any good reasons why id did crossfit other than I like to be healthy and I like to look good bronzed until today.
    Today’s workout was hell on earth for me. I felt like no matter what I did or how much I tried the weight was not coming up the way I wanted. The thought of coming up with an excuse for quieting ran across my mind about a billion times. But I looked up and saw Jim across the room, and all I could hear in my mind was him telling me to pick the damn weight up and do it, needless to say I got through the workout this morning, and by far it was the ugliest that I can remember. But as I drove into work this morning I thought about this morning and how it reflects to my life. Crossfit has not only helped me become a legitimate athlete but has helped me become a stronger person in life. Without ACF and all it has done for me in the past year I would probably be back to doing things that I did in my past that messed up my life. But for those who know what I have been through so far this year I have stayed focused and mentally tough and thank all the coaches and all of my family not friends FAMILY at ACF for being there and making me a better person.

    Awesome Cal!
    5:30 and 8:30 peeps, nice work on the back pedals with this Hero WOD! Not only is back pedaling functional, it is also sport specific. How many times did you have to move furniture or anything bulky backwards? We see a lot of back pedaling in basketball, rugby, soccer and football.
    @Playboy….do it!

    Did post WOD 800m run to calm the quads but did miss out on the du drills – sorry guys, I was toast by then!

    Here’s my story…even though I feel it’s kinda boring…haha
    Crossfit has been for me an extension of my gymnastics experience. Being an athlete all my life, it has most definitely fueled my competitive fire again. I have become stronger than I’ve been in a very long time. The best thing though has been the amazing support that comes from being part of ACF and the lifelong friendships I’ve made along the way. Awesome journey!!! And this is just the beginning…

    @Chrissy, The Dude is really good at back pedaling 🙂
    Very nice post FPR!
    @Fam, those bright new shoes have the extra cushion in the front that weren’t functional for the back pedals.
    @TC, the pulls on the cleans were looking pretty clean tonight! Way to go big guy!
