The 2015 five-week season of CrossFit Open has come to an end. Top 20 men, 20 women, and 15 teams will advance from our region, South Central, to the CrossFit South Regional at the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, TX, (650 South Griffin Street, Dallas, TX 75202) for a 3 day event from May 15-17. We hope that those who participated learned a lot, especially about themselves. We hope that the take away for everyone is a motivation to do what it takes to get better and to become a better version of you each new day and for the next years to come. We have embraced the sport of fitness and most times, sports are more than just fun and games. From schoolyard chants to Super Bowl championships, playful competition finds its way into nearly all aspects of culture. Fighting to win draws on cooperation, concentration, coordination, and creativity—a few among several things worth striving for in their own right but sometimes the darker side of competition is feeling that you have to compare yourself to others all the time. A lot has been written on the psychological aspects of competition and our need to survive and excel beyond our own set limits. So let’s not forget that we are all training for life (life-long pursuit of fitness) here at Atomic CrossFit. The CrossFit methodology has simply put the fun back in training hard especially with the support of a community of like-minded individuals. Congratulations to everyone who participated at any capacity! We are proud that everyone has put forth their best this season! Now, let’s get back to training with consistency, prioritizing mechanics with proper progressions and adding relative and appropriate intensity!
