Jamie Carter

Coach

Credentials

  • CrossFit Level 1
  • CPR Certified

About

Jamie has been around sports or involved in sports all her life. Growing up she was involved in various sports but eventually played softball competitively year round. Jamie received a scholarship to play softball at Texas A&M University. In her four years at A&M she received All-Conference, All-Region, and All-American honors. In her senior year she played in the WCWS for the National Championship. After being competitive for so long she missed the adrenaline rush from being on the competitive stage. After graduating she tried different things to find that outlet for competition. Her sister, Beth, was involved in CrossFit and convinced Jamie to try it out. From that moment on she was hooked. One of her favorite things about coming to CrossFit is interacting with athletes in the classes and seeing people from all different walks of life come to one box and compete together. She truly believes that anyone can find their place in CrossFit. As long as we stay consistent and have fun, the healthy lifestyle will take care of itself.

Beth Spearman

Beth Spearman

Credentials

  • CrossFit Level 1
  • CF Gymnastics and USA Weightlifting Sports Performance
  • CPR Certified

About

Beth is an athlete through and through. If it has to do with sports, count her in! She spent her younger years competing in gymnastics and playing basketball. While attending Rice University, she decided to walk on to the track team and learn to pole vault. Fast forward 4 years and upon graduation she had earned a full scholarship, NCAA All-American honors, four conference titles, and two school records. Beth was able to travel and compete in the US and Europe for two years following graduation as a professional. After retiring from pole vaulting, Beth was looking for a way to stay in shape and the gym just wasn’t cutting it. She stumbled upon CrossFit and began doing WODs at the local “globo” gym and even getting kicked out for throwing things around! Shortly thereafter, Grace found Beth and they started meeting at different places to do WODs around the neighborhood. She’s been in love with CrosFit ever since!

Beth’s training philosophy is simple: Go Hard or Go Home. No matter how much weight you’re lifting or how fast you’re going; you can always work hard. If you don’t want to do it, then don’t; no one is making you do this. Her favorite thing to see is a bunch of people lying on the floor after a WOD!

About

Will has been doing all manners of exercises, mainly weightlifting, since the age of 14 due to his participation in American football. Following his graduation from SHSU in 2006, he began his career as a Strength and Conditioning Coach. This was short lived and after brief stints at various performance training centers, he landed as a middle school health and PE teacher in FBISD. Along the way he found a love for Olympic Weightlifting (the ONLY power lifting 😉 ). Under the tuteledge of Coach Tim Swords (USAW Team Houston and USAW’s current member of the Coaching, Education & Program Committee), he has gained experience as an Olympic Weightlifting Coach. During his time at Sam Houston and Ole Miss, Will gained an appreciation for the Scottish Highland Games, which he currently competes in. His philosophy on training is simple: Technique is key. Without it, the most efficient machine on the planet, the human body, can’t perform as it should.

  • Earned a Personal Trainer Certification, Optimum Performance Training (CPT-OPT) with the National Academy of Sports Medicine
  • CPR Certified

About

Sid Nueno is a Certified CrossFit Level 1 Trainer and has prior experience in the fitness industry previous to coming to Atomic CrossFit. He played college basketball overseas and has worked as a Personal Trainer and Membership Advisor during his time in the fitness industry. Sid earned his NASM while working at a “globo” gym and has always been involved in sports and fitness since he left the healthclub industry.

“I found CrossFit in the fall of 2010 and had a love/hate relationship with the movement. I truly fell in love in the summer of 2011 when the physical battle with the WODs transformed to more of a mental battle. I realized that most of these workouts are more of commanding the mind to challenge the body. If I win the lottery I would do this full time along with coaching basketball.”

Sid has finally realized that you can’t out train a bad diet and has recently added nutrition discipline and balanced recovery to his active lifestyle giving him the tremendous gains in gas tank and strength he has been struggling to add.

Sid is a graduate of San Beda College (Philippines) with a Masters of Human Resources from the University of Houston Clearlake. He works full time as an HR Director for a local CPA firm and teaches Introduction to Human Resources at HCC and San Jacinto Community College
